Important Warranty Information

Depending on the product, the manufacturer may offer various warranties. Below are some important notes on warranties.


Importance of Using an Authorised Service Agent

If you have an appliance that requires service and you feel that it may be a warranty issue, then it is important that the repairs are conducted by an Authorised Repair Agent for that product. Non authorised repairs may affect future warranty claims for your product.



Domestic Warranty

Unless stated otherwise, the warranty on products sold primarily for domestic use are for use within a standard domestic situation. Most manufacturers include a clause for domestic products used in a commercial situation (for example, a juicer with a two (2) year warranty used in a cafe may only have a 90 day warranty).



Carry in Warranty

On easily transportable products, the manufacturer may stipulate a "Carry In" or "Return to Base (RTB)" warranty, where the customer is expected to take the product for warranty repair. Carry in warranty applies to most small appliances and to AV products such as Digital Set Top Boxes, Video Recorders, DVD Players, Digital Camera and Televisions (up to 51cm).



In Home Warranty

Larger products are covered by an In Home Warranty, where the service technician will call out to your home at a pre-agreed time. It is generally agreed principal that the product sold must of merchantable condition. It is also a generally accepted principal that customer responsibility includes the site where the product is to be installed meets minimum standards.

For example, dishwashers and clothes washers require a minimum water pressure, serviceable taps and proper drainage. This is especially important for customers using gravity feed rainwater or older houses where the taps may be corroded and don't allow sufficient water flow.

Another example is with the introduction of digital television, where many new digital television units may have intermittently frozen pictures when connected to older antenna systems, old cable or old splitters and wall sockets. It is expected that the customers has a minimum digital TV signal for units to work as expected.

In the event of a Warranty Technician being called out and the problem is determined to be a customer supply problem and no fault of the product, you may be charged a "call out" fee.
